Wobbly Life: Mission Math Rally!
A go-kart, a rally route and eight stops: in this Wobbly Life-inspired math rally, kids practise the mental maths that trips up so many at the start of Grade 3. Can you drive the whole route?
What you practise
- Ten buddies: pairs that make 10, counting on to the next ten (48 + 2 = 50) and splitting numbers.
- Jump to the ten: adding across a ten with a stop at the ten (48 + 5 = 48 + 2 + 3), on an open number line and in your head.
- Jump back: subtracting across a ten (53 − 5 = 53 − 3 − 2), with the add-back check.
- Strategy workshop: step by step, tens and ones, and the 9 trick for two-digit numbers.
- Frog patterns: spot how problems change (“1st number always +1 …”) and explain why the answer stays the same.
- Times table bakery: multiplication, division, fact families, doubling and halving.
- Detective cases: word problems with a number sentence and an answer sentence.
- Lightning rally: three rounds of 10 problems, one per day, to see yourself getting faster.
In the pack: eight A4 pages (with an express route for busy days), plus two pages of answers with typical mistakes and tips for grown-ups. Every page comes in English (US) and German (as Mission Rechen-Rallye!).
Made for tablets: the interactive version checks every box, explains mistakes with a number-line hint, and has a mental maths trainer with big buttons, seven practice modes and a 10-problem test that remembers your last results. It contains its own images and fonts and works offline; answers are not sent to a server.
For printing, use A4 at 100%. Keep the answer key separate until the rally is done.
